Wrinkle Treatment Q & A
How does laser wrinkle treatment work?
Laser wrinkle treatment, also called laser skin resurfacing, utilizes the Elite+™ Aesthetic Workstation’s highly specialized laser to reduce wrinkles. Dr. Allen administers this laser to the areas of your face where wrinkle reduction is desired, such as:
- On the forehead
- Between the brows
- Around the mouth
The laser emits light pulses to the skin, which heat the tissue and promote collagen growth. Collagen is the skin protein that makes the skin more elastic. The results are long-lasting, leaving your skin brighter with better texture and tightness.
What results can I expect from laser skin resurfacing?
Laser skin resurfacing for wrinkle reduction is extremely effective in rejuvenating skin. You can expect a noticeable reduction in wrinkles in the areas you are targeting within 3-5 treatments, spaced apart several weeks. Usually, you can expect results to last for a number of years.
Does laser wrinkle reduction hurt?
Patients don’t usually describe laser skin resurfacing as being painful, but it may feel a tad uncomfortable for some. Many patients report it feels similar to a rubber-band flicking the skin, and the laser can feel hot as the light pulses are emitted. Dr. Allen will do everything possible to ensure your comfort during your laser reduction treatment.
At what age can I get laser wrinkle reduction?
There is no set age or life milestone at which you should seek wrinkle reduction treatments! In fact, Dr. Allen recommends patients consider laser skin resurfacing at almost any age if they are worried about the appearance of their skin. The best time to seek treatment is when you notice unwanted changes on your skin’s surface.
Does laser skin resurfacing have side effects?
Although remarkably well-tolerated, laser wrinkle reduction treatments do have some risks involved, but they’re usually mild and do not last long. The main side effects include hyperpigmentation of the treated areas as the skin heals, redness, and mild burning from the laser (similar to a sunburn). Make sure to protect your skin from the sun as it heals and avoid direct sun exposure.
